I ENJOY PRAIRIE SUNSETS, SNUGGLES WITH MY BABIES, TACO NIGHTS + HAVE AN UNHEALTHY LOVE OF FREDDY'S FROZEN CUSTARD, BUT DON'T FORGET TO ADD THE HEATH BAR!
1. Mom, choose your outfit first! Whether it’s a dress in your closet that you absolutely love or you splurge on something new typically mom gets left for last. Get something that you feel great in. Trust me kids clothes are a lot easier to find.
2. Figure out a color scheme. Once you have a direction to go it’s easier to select your outfits. Pinterest, Google, and Instagram are all great places to search for inspiration!
3. Plan ahead by scheduling your session early. Put it on the calendar and keep the day lite. Don’t fill it with activity. It’s enough getting everyone ready. Make supper takeout that night or prepare a freezer meal. Set up haircuts, colors, nails, etc. before if they are needed.
4. Do a test run. Make sure everyone has tried on their outfits before picture day. Avoid wardrobe malfunctions. A few days before the session make sure everything is cleaned, pressed and ready to roll.
5. Arrive early. After having our third baby I know that getting everyone dressed ready and out the door, especially for church is challenging. I also know our attitudes are much better when things are calm and relaxed instead of rushing.
6. Have fun! Not everyone enjoys pictures. Interaction shots are great too. Play with your children. Give them snuggles, hugs and kisses. I’ll guide you along. Don’t expect that your kids are going to be perfect. That’s life. No need to apologize I understand. I have kids.
7. Pay attention to details from top to bottom. Make sure your shoes match your attire, leave your smart watch at home, take off your ponytail holder, don’t fill your pockets and have clean nails or fresh painted nails.
8. Bring spares for littles or/and leave change when you arrive. You never know when a baby will blowout, drool or spit-up. Have a backup outfit ready.
9. Have props you want to use? Bring them. Give your photographer a heads up if you can. I love incorporating quilts, chairs, etc. that is a treasure to your family.
10. Be comfortable in what you wear. If you don’t feel good in what you are wearing it can reflect in your pictures. Wear something that makes you feel beautiful!
